Mosaic planet is a Vancouver-based enterprise owned and operated by Glen Andersen.

As an artist contractor, Glen has been engaged since 1995 in creating and - in collaboration with community groups and other designers – co-creating mosaics. For diverse clients throughout the Vancouver area and elsewhere, he has built or supervised the building of hundreds of mosaics in tile and pebble. The settings for these installations have included city parks and plazas, public buildings, schoolgrounds, residential neighbourhood streets, and private gardens.

His aim is to contribute to an expanded vision of urban aesthetics and home décor by creating art rich in detail and concept - honouring and invigorating a given site. In the public art realm, Glen’s main focus is creating tactile beauty at a pedestrian-friendly human scale. He works primarily in pebble and tile mosaic, but also builds sculptural works which may comprise mosaic embellishments.

Mosaic Planet assembles teams of skilled individuals for larger undertakings, and can readily engage qualified mosaic artists to assist with community group or other projects at any scale, large or small.

Mosaic Planet designs are all original. We specialize in creating mosaic designs suited to the specific site, featuring either nature-based imagery or abstract patterns.

Mosaic Planet also enthusiastically encourages client collaboration in co-design. Bring your own ideas to the designing process! Virtually any image can be translated into mosaic.

TECHNICAL INFO:
All mosaics, whether in pebble or tile are made with utmost attention to strength and longevity. We use only the best setting materials and for exteriors, the highest quality outdoor (frost-proof) tile. Substrates (for floors or sculptures) are of reinforced concrete. Pebble mosaics are also made so that surfaces are all flat with no trip hazard. These works are virtually maintenance free. Optionally, pebble mosaics may be given a clear gloss varnish to bring out the colours for the “wet look”.

INSTALLATION:
We can ship to site or bring and install ourselves. Depending on the scale, we usually install the work ourselves but often subcontract larger installations to tile-setting firms.
